This beautiful waterfront property (150 feet of sand frontage) includes a partially winterized cottage which can easily be upgraded. It is situated within a unique members only park. A new addition was completed a few years ago using wall to wall pine and hardwood flooring. Ameneties include wood stove, garage, shed, wood shed, deck, large permanent wood dock, aluminum boat, 9.5 hp Johnson motor and all appliances.
The location of this cottage getaway and its numerous lakes and hundreds of kilometres of trail makes it a dream come true for hunters, fisherman, hikers, naturalists, quaders, motorcross riders and snowmobilers. Of the parks 17 spring-fed lakes only eight have cottages along their shorelines. The use of motors is restricted to four lakes including Allen Lake which this cottage is situated on. The other lakes are designated as no motor boat lakes. Park residents assume normal taxes on their own property and presently pay a $350 a year annual membership fee. Each member leases his/her lakefront lot from the Park Corporation of which he/she is an equal member. Membership in this private club is open exclusively to purchasers and their families who buy property in the park. By-laws are enacted by the directors and the members according to the Corporations Act of the Province of Ontario. Located in the Haliburton Highlands, the park is 107 miles northeast of Oshawa and Hwy. 401 and is approximately 163 miles from Toronto. It is halfway between the Village of Haliburton and the town of Bancroft, positioned in the Township of Harcourt. Fishtail Lake is to the north, Elephant Lake is to the east, Farquhar Lake is to the south and Algonquin Park is only a short distance north. Separating this private community from this internationally famous game reserve is an area of more than 75,000 acres that has been declared an area of \'No Further Development\' and remains a wildlife preserve in perpetuity. Membership offers positive assurance, for as long as members want; that the years ahead will not bring overcrowding, destruction and depreciation to their private playground. Due to member-owner organization, everyone is particularly sensitive to protection of the environment and takes responsibility for the land and water quality.
- FISHING and HUNTING
Fishing is excellent in Harcourt Park. There are lakes with natural Brook Trout and Lake Trout fisheries. Small Mouth and Large Mouth Bass are reproducing in some lakes. Our Fish Management Committee has a comprehensive program to stock and monitor the fisheries. The fish stocking budget allows annual stocking of Rainbow Trout, Splake and Brook Trout. Fishing on our lakes is only available to park members and their guests.
Deer, Moose, Bear, and Partridge are abundant in the area. Park members enjoy their private hunting grounds--almost 7,000 acres of forest.
- ROADS and TRAILS
All roads (about 50 km) within the park are privately maintained by the corporation and are gravel based.
Most of the back lakes are only accessible by trails which were once logging roads. There is an extensive network of trails within the park that can be used for walking, cycling, quading motorcycling, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) main \"E\" trail goes through the east border of the park. This provides easy access to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails.
- GENERAL STORE and LOCAL SHOPPING
There is a General Store that serves the members of the park year round. They provide provisions, gas, propane, movie rentals, some grill facilities, small engine repair, roof shovelling and many other services.
There is a Foodland grocery store, Agnew\'s General Store and Liquor Store in Wilberforce (30 Minutes). The towns of Bancroft and Haliburton are each 45 minutes away and provide most amenities.
- COMMUNITY CENTRE
The Community Centre is operated during July and August by the Recreation Committee and has a comprehensive recreation program. There are weekly activities such as day school for children, baseball, and bingo. Annual events include a Welcome Back Wine & Cheese Party, a Garage Sale, Volleyball Tournaments, Aquatic Day, Water-ski Competition, Dances, a Horseshoe Tournament, Beef BBQ, Monte Carlo Night, and a Corn Roast. The Winter Carnival is a new winter event. There is a waterski course located on Big Straggle Lake.
There is a Tennis Court and a Shuffleboard court located at the Community Centre. There is a community well (fully winterized) at the Community Centre which provides excellent quality drinking water.
Nondenominational church services held every Sunday during July and August and on Thanksgiving Sunday.
- PARK SECURITY
During the fall and winter, the park provides a security contract to two park members. These Security Officers patrol the park night and day to ensure that only members and guests are present in the park. Each cottage is checked several times to ensure that all doors and windows are locked.
- OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Each lot is serviced with hydro and telephone available. Most cottages draw water from the lakes by water pump, some have drilled wells. Each cottage lot will have its own septic system consisting of a holding tank and/or tile bed system. Members are encouraged to bring their recyclables home. The Municipality of Dysart et al offers a local landfull site located off Elephant Lake Road for park members to dispose of their garbage and recyclables.
- INTERNET ACCESS
Internet access is available in Haliburton with a local phone call. Bell Sympatico has a local dialup location and there is also a local ISP called Haliburton Highlands Net (HalHiNet). Bell Sympatico offers a local dialup connection in Harcourt Park. Satellite internet service is recently available through Highes Net.
