The Historic Shaunavon Hotel is a 3-storey building constructed in 1915. It is purported to be the largest freestanding wood structure in the Province of Saskatchewan.
In 2000 the hotel was designated a heritage site which allows prospective owners the opportunity to access heritage grant and loan programs. The hotel is approximately 5000 square feet per floor. The first floor houses a large beverage room with a 200 seat capacity. A bar wash, liquor dispenser and pool table are a few of the many items that are included in the sale. The bar has a lounge area with a large-screen T.V.. The 20 ft. by 17 ft. dance floor has new laminate. The stage above the dance floor is 9.5 ft. by 15 ft. The two washrooms have been fitted with new toilets, sinks and flooring.There are three additional large rooms connected to the bar that are currently used for storage. The hotel has been replumbed with plastic to all areas on the main floor. Also,a new 3-phase electrical system was installed in 2005.The kitchen is fully equipped with a vented charbroiler,flat grill, two ovens, and two deep fryers. A steam table, heat lamp, two microwaves, a dishwasher, a double commercial fridge, a second cooler, and two freezers are included in the sale. Many other items including dishes, cutlery, and glassware are included in the sale. The kitchen is 20 ft. by 20 ft. with a 14 ft x 10 ft drygoods room attached. Down the hall is a walk-in refigerator, and two other rooms housing additional freezers and a laundry room with 2 working washer and dryers. The kitchen links to the 31 ft. x 36 ft. dining room which has a bar and built in coolers. This area is licenced and has a seating capacity of 60 people. Off the dining room is the banquet room which measures 50 ft. by 15 ft.. The is also licenced and has a seating capacity of 66 people. Numerous tables chairs, tablecloths, and other items are included in the sale.There is additional space in the lobby which has a large staircase leading to the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor has living quarters which consist of a 1 bedroom apartment and an additional room adjacent. The remaining areas of the 2nd floor are under renovation. To date, 11 rooms, 4 offices and one bathroom have been gutted and readied for the electrical, plumbing and finishing work that is required to finish. There are additional rooms in the North wing that have not been started yet.The 3rd floor is unoccupied but could easily be developed to condominiums or additional dining or banquet facilities. Numerous antique dressers, tables, clawfoot bathtubs, and sinks are included in the sale. The owner is currently creating an inventory of the equipment, furniture and other items that are included in this sale which will be available to potential buyers soon.The current owner is unable to continue in the business since the passing of her husband. She is anxious to sell. Someone who is passionate about recreating the building, returning it back to its original splendor would be ideal. The significant history of the building could create worldwide tourism activity.
